Community Heroes group continues to serve Bromhof, Boskruin, Northwold, and surrounds

Coming out in numbers to clean up President Fouché Drive, the Community Heroes made a difference in their suburbs.

A group of Community Heroes volunteers have done it again, cleaning up along President Fouché Drive from Kelly Avenue to Boskruin Centre. The community showed up. People gave their time. Businesses offered prizes and support. Cars were passing by with hoots of encouragement and waves of appreciation.

Community Heroes is made up of residents from Bromhof, Boskruin, Northworld, and surrounds. Volunteers of all ages came together to clear, beautify, and uplift a stretch of road that has been forgotten for far too long.

Michéle le Roux, one of the volunteers, said that the recent clean-up was a fantastic initiative that truly showcased the power of community spirit. “Seeing residents and homeowners come together to take pride in our shared spaces was incredibly inspiring. It was not just about tidying up; it was about fostering a sense of ownership and care for our neighbourhood.

“I’m extremely proud of what we accomplished. From clearing road curbs and public pathways, to trimming overgrown shrubs, the transformation was remarkable. The hard work put in by everyone involved made a real difference, and it’s something we can all take pride in.”

For Community Heroes, the clean-ups are essential, not just for aesthetics, but for safety, property values, and community morale. Le Roux further stated that a well-maintained environment encourages responsible behaviour, reduces crime, and enhances the overall quality of life for everyone in the neighbourhood.

Although the turnout for the clean-up was decent, Le Roux strongly encourages more residents to get involved. “Even a small contribution of time or funds from our neighbours can make a significant difference, and can have a big impact. It’s also a great way to meet neighbours, build relationships, and show pride in where we live. When we work together, we can achieve so much more.”

Community Heroes continues their ongoing dedication to improve the community. Their consistency and passion sets a powerful example, as they don’t just highlight issues but roll up their sleeves and take action.

Le Roux added that residents can look forward to more community-driven beautification projects, including planting initiatives, neighbourhood watch programmes, and park revitalisations. “These efforts aim to make our area not only cleaner but safer and more connected.”
