Formula Monoposto ladies only race excites Blairgowrie racer
Local racer Megan Archer is ready for the upcoming ladies only race at Zwartkops Raceway.
Blairgowrie based Megan Archer is among the female racers who will take part in the Formula Monoposto ladies only race in partnership with Zwartkops Raceway.
The race is scheduled to take place at Zwartkops on August 9, and promises to be an exciting event, honouring and celebrating the ladies involved behind the scenes, as well as those behind the steering wheel. This race is open to all ladies who qualify for a Motorsport South Africa (MSA) license, and can lay their hands on a car that complies with Formula Monoposto rules and MSA safety standards.

Archer explained that they are looking at between 15 and 20 entries. She said that she is looking forward to seeing a grid of ladies, not only ones who have been around for many years, but also new ladies who have just started, to show everyone there is no limits to what they can do.
The event will not be as competitive as a normal race. Instead, it will shine a light on ladies in motorsport on National Women’s Day, which will be something really special.
Archer said that as this event has never been done in South Africa. The Formula Libra Association wants to open doors to any lady wanting to join, to help grow the number of women in the sport. “I have been welcomed with open arms by my association, but there have been women who have struggled in this male dominated sport.”

She added that a track, filled with only ladies, is going to be an event that cannot be explained. It will be a joyous and celebrated day, for all women in motorsport. “We will have a very mixed grid, with regular drivers in the Formula Libre series mixing it up with seasoned professionals from other categories, as well as complete racing novices.
“The event promises to be a huge amount of fun, and an excellent way for Formula Monoposto, in conjunction with Zwartkops Raceway and under the auspices of MSA, to honour all the ladies involved in motorsport in South Africa.”
