“This is clean water running on the road and into someone’s property,” he said. “How are we going to resolve potholes if we leave water to damage the tar? This is why potholes form, and nobody wants to take responsibility.”
He said that despite reporting the matter, officials claimed it had been resolved, though no work was done.

“This is the problem we have with some of the entities. They come when requested and give a report saying the issue is fixed. But on the ground, nothing has been done,” he said.
Mabelebele is calling on Joburg Water to step in and urgently fix the leak.
“I’m pleading with Joburg Water to assist. This cannot be right,” he said.
The flowing water is not only weakening the road surface but also entering nearby private properties, which could lead to further damage and possible health and safety risks.
Randburg Sun has contacted Joburg Water for comment and will provide updates when a response is received.
