Body of woman discovered in Blairgowrie raises concern

The discovery of a woman’s body in Blairgowrie has raised community concerns. Police confirmed investigations are underway to establish the cause of her death.

The discovery of a woman’s body in Barkston Drive, Blairgowrie, over the weekend has left residents shocked and concerned about safety in their neighbourhood.

Resident Vasco Lutumba was among the first to notice the body, which lay on the street near a furniture store. He said the sight left him traumatised and worried that passersby were ignoring the situation.

“I was a bit traumatised, so I started knocking on doors for help,” Lutumba said. “Everyone was scared, and it seemed the body had been there since the night before.”

Officers from Randburg Police Station responded after Lutumba raised the alarm. According to Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, a report was made, and the investigation is ongoing.

The police confirmed that DNA samples have been taken in for testing and are awaiting results from Pretoria. The police are urging residents with any information to come forward to assist investigators.

Although the exact circumstances of the woman’s death remain unclear, the incident has created unease in the community. Lutumba believes it is important that people are made aware of what happened. “Someone has lost a daughter, and people need to know what is happening in our area,” he said.

For now, Blairgowrie residents are left with more questions than answers. As the investigation continues, the discovery has served as a stark reminder of the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with the authorities.
