Nolte confirmed that the suspect tried to run when approached, but the officer managed to stop and apprehend him at around 13:30. Stolen cables, pliers and two solar lights were recovered at the scene.

The suspect was handed over to SAPS Randburg and taken into custody.

Nolte said the incident again showed how effective community vigilance could be when paired with quick response from security teams. “This arrest highlights the power of partnership,” he noted.
