Quick response by Beagle Watch leads to 2 Blairgowrie arrests

Beagle Watch officers detained two men after an early-morning alarm activation revealed a burglary in progress, with a drone pinpointing the suspects’ hiding places.

Two suspects were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday after Beagle Watch officers, supported by a drone team, responded to a burglary in progress in Blairgowrie.

The incident began at 02:08 when the Beagle Watch Control Room received an alarm signal from a home on Willowvale Road. The client cancelled the response, but moments later noticed a suspect in the backyard while checking his CCTV cameras. He immediately pressed his panic button, prompting an urgent dispatch.

According to Beagle Watch area manager David Caseiro, the control room reported a burglary in progress over the radio, and all five Blairgowrie response vehicles were sent to the scene. “Officers arrived within two minutes. Knowing that suspects often escape by jumping walls, the team positioned some vehicles in nearby streets to block possible escape routes.”

At the time, the operations manager and drone operator were involved in a planned operation nearby. They stopped what they were doing and headed straight to the scene after hearing the call.

Caseiro said: “The drone played a crucial role in the arrests. It detected the exact hiding spots of the suspects, who had moved from the main property on Willowvale Road into neighbouring properties along Bantam Drive. Guided by the drone operator, officers were able to locate and detain the two men, who had hidden in separate yards.”

The suspects were handed over to Linden SAPS. They were charged with malicious property damage and have already appeared in court. Caseiro confirmed that the suspects had tried to steal an outside perimeter beam, damaging it while attempting to escape.
