Seedlings and Flowers Nursery School wishes residents a Merry Christmas
Jess De Bruijn, principal of Seedlings and Flowers Nursery School, in Sundowner, looks back at the year that was, wishing residents well this Christmas.
Jess De Bruijn, principal of Seedlings and Flowers Nursery School, wishes the community health and prosperity during the holiday time.
She looked back at the year and shared some highlights, explaining that it has truly been such an abundantly productive year for their school. “There are so many highlights from the year that it’s difficult to choose between them. I would have to say that seeing our pupils grow from when they first start with us, seeing them grow and thrive through each milestone, all the way up to our Grade R class, is one of the biggest highlights and privileges that I am blessed to have, not only in my career, but also in my life.”

2025 was a particularly good year for her, on a personal note, as her youngest daughter was one of the school leavers this year. “I am so honoured to have seen her, and my eldest daughter three years prior, progress through our school, not only as the leader, but as a parent as well.”
De Bruijn’s highlighted the inclusion of the six bricks learning programme, a play-based method, that uses six Duplo bricks to develop children’s cognitive, emotional, and physical skills, into their already extensive school curriculum. “We have been able to incorporate six bricks into all our classes, and use it on a daily basis. Another wonderful success this year was the building work we managed to achieve. We were able to completely renovate and double the size of both our Grade R, and Grade RR classes, which has been such a wonderful change for our school.”

The principal said that their Christmas wish is always one of health and prosperity to all their pupils, staff, and school families. “We, as a school, do not close at the end of term during the year, so when the December period arrives, we are very much in need of a rest, so as to be the best we can for 2026. We truly value our place within our community and have been members of the same community for almost 24 years.”
She added that they are so grateful for the support they receive every year from their wonderful community, neighbours, staff, and families. “Our greatest wish, during this beautiful time of the year, is that all families be filled with the same joy, wonder, and excitement that children experience during this festive period.”
