Faith, family, and rugby drive spiritual rugby player forward

With faith guiding him, Samuel Ogualu focuses on giving thanks, enjoying rugby, and living purposefully, inviting the Randburg community to support the club’s journey.

Samuel Ogualu (18) is ready to give his all for Diggers Rugby Club in Randburg as he heads into his final year at U19 level.

Known for his dedication, both on and off the field, Ogualu says the supporters and members of the club are what drive him to keep pushing for excellence.

While he doesn’t currently have major personal achievements to highlight for 2026, Ogualu is focused on serving his community, pursuing his goal of becoming a deacon at his church, and playing rugby to the best of his ability.

“The thing I’m most looking forward to in the new year is seeing where God guides me. I can only hope and dream, but through Him all things are possible. For now, I pray, have faith, and believe that all things are well.”

Ogualu encourages anyone interested in rugby, or supporting the team, to visit Diggers Rugby Club at the Randburg Sporting Complex. “Everybody is welcome. It’s a family.” Fans can also follow the club on Instagram and Facebook at the handle: @Diggers Rugby Club.

His New Year message to the community is inspired by scripture: “1 Thessalonians 5:18 – Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. So, often we think about our situations and forget that others would want to be in our shoes. We should always give thanks and appreciate the things, people, and life we are granted.”

Ogualu wishes everyone an amazing festive season and a blessed 2026, reminding the community that faith, family, and dedication can make every year meaningful.
