VW Polo stolen on Cork Avenue, Ferndale

CPF urges community to refrain from parking on the roadside or leaving it alone if there are no security guards nearby.

The Randburg Community Policing Forum is encouraging residents to not leave their vehicles unattended after an incident of vehicle theft in Ferndale.

A VW Polo was stolen from the side of the road in Cork Avenue recently.

“I can suggest commuters avoid parking on the roadside and avoid leaving their vehicles unattended for more than a few minutes if compelled to,” said the forum’s public relations officer Pommie Lutchman.

“Similarly, it’s advisable to avoid travelling alone, perhaps leaving someone to remain in the car if there is no security guard to park near. I believe Toyota Etios, Toyota 4x4s and VW Polos are the targets for theft these days, although there have been instances where wheels or headlights have been taken recently.”
