Honeydew police arrested nine suspects during an overnight operation
Spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said the multi-discipline operation began on 18:00 on September 30 and ended at 02:00 on October 1.
Officers searched vehicles, inspected premises for compliance and engaged in other activities in all four sectors during this time.
For driving under the influence of alcohol, officers arrested eight people.
For assault common (regarding incidents of domestic violence), officers arrested another suspect.
A total 58 vehicles and 117 people were searched at a roadblock on the corner of Russia Avenue and South Africa Drive, though no fines were issued.
Ten business premises were visited by police and four non-compliance warnings were issued. Two fines were also issued to premises amounting to R4 500.
Muthan said load-shedding hindered some activities in the operation.
