Douglasdale CPF wishes resident sweet holidays
Douglasdale CPF looks back at the year and wishes residents safe and happy holidays.
Lizzy Mabena, the chairperson of the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF) reflected on 2024 and wished the community safe holidays.
She said it had been a year of remarkable progress for the CPF and community. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the residents, CPF, and local security businesses, community safety has significantly improved.
“Our CPF community patrollers programme expanded, thank you to our newly elected Exco Patrollers coordinator Emile Barnard, and we successfully launched several community-driven initiatives, including domestic safety forums and youth engagement programmes.”

She named Moshendren Naicker as her community hero. Naicker tirelessly volunteered his time and resources to support various community safety initiatives. His dedication to joining neighbourhood patrols at all hours of the night and assisting in organising and participating in community events had profoundly impacted the collective well-being.
“He has been pivotal in being the link and chain between the community, the CPF and local government stakeholders.”
She added one of the significant challenges they faced this year was the rise in petty crime incidents.
“We addressed this issue by increasing patrols and visibility, advocating for fostering stronger community vigilance and reporting and enhancing our communication channels with law enforcement via Freda Boiles. Through these continued efforts, we hope to reduce crime rates and ensure a safer Douglasdale.”

“My Christmas wish for the CPF is to receive more support and involvement from our community members. As an organisation, we need more volunteers and resources to sustain and grow our initiatives.”
She added this festive season, she hoped the community came together to continue making Douglasdale a safer place for everyone.
“I would also like to see better participation from the community in attending public meetings, this way we can collectively share ideas on how we can better address safety concerns in our community. I wish all our residents a joyous and safe holiday season. May you find peace, happiness, and togetherness during this festive period.”
