Power outage to hit Olivedale and nearby suburbs tomorrow

Parts of Olivedale and surrounding areas will be without electricity for most of June 18, as City Power carries out urgent maintenance work.

Residents in the northern suburbs are being urged to prepare for a planned electricity outage that will affect parts of Olivedale and surrounding areas on June 18.

According to City Power, the electricity supply will be interrupted from 09:00 until 17:00 as technicians carry out essential maintenance work at the Olivedale substation.

The planned outage will impact several residential streets, including:

  • Maple Drive, Northwold
  • First Street, Northwold
  • Lima Street, Olivedale
  • Fountain Street, Sonneglans
  • Third Avenue, Northwold
  • Beesvley Street, Sharonlea
  • Dirk Street, Northwold
  • Fourth Avenue, Golden Harvest
  • Ululupa Street, Sharonlea
  • Fifth Street, Sharonlea
  • LA Province Street, Sharonlea
  • Paul Street, Northwold

While the interruption may cause inconvenience, City Power says the maintenance is necessary to strengthen the local electricity network and help prevent unexpected breakdowns in the future.

The utility has reminded customers that the supply may be restored at any time during the day, and as such all electrical points should be considered live throughout the outage period.
