Old Parks U18 suffers a 2–0 loss to Panorama

Old Parks hosted Panorama in a Rand Central Local Football Association Championship league match.

Panorama bagged all three points away from home against Old Parks in a Rand Central Local Football Association Championship (RCLFA) league encounter.

Despite Panorama’s advantage in possession in the first half, both teams created a few half-chances. The host’s defence stayed disciplined, led by goalkeeper Kieran Brown, who made some impressive saves to keep his team in the game.

Panorama striker Yolisa Nanise had a good chance after a wonderfully weighted pass was played, but he couldn’t connect properly, and the ball sailed over the crossbar.
Playing counter-attack football, Old Parks’ Dillon Sheppard broke loose on the right and dribbled past goalkeeper Brooklyn Jardien, but was fouled, denying him a scoring opportunity. Jardien was fortunate to escape with only a yellow card caution.

The second stanza started with the visitors showing more hunger and aggression. They used Thebe Molosiwa’s speed and skills on the right-hand side, and for the first time in the game, Old Parks’ defence looked troubled and disjointed.

Molosiwa continued to cause havoc in Old Parks’ box, but struggled to finish the chances. However, Cazlyn Gomez finally broke the deadlock, giving Panorama a 1–0 lead they desperately needed.

The home team continued to fight and push for the equaliser, but they were unable to get through Panorama’s defence. Gomez completed his brace shortly after, making it 2–0 and securing all three points.

Old Parks coach Peter Obiora praised his team for fighting until the last whistle. “My players gave it their all in today’s game, and that mentality is what we’re aiming for, and it’s working,” he said. “In this game, we played until the end. We performed well in the first half and hoped to get the result in the second half, unfortunately, we conceded two goals due to defensive errors; it was a painful loss.”
