The leaders, from the U9 teams all the way up to the ladies’ team, were presented in front of parents, supporters, and their teammates. They also signed the captain’s pledge, where they were made aware of their responsibilities, and what the football club expects from them, as a captain.

Old Parks’ Travis Kitch explained that the annual ceremony began in 2024, to recognise the captains in all the teams that they have for the season. “Every captain was presented with an armband. They also sign, like a bit of a history book, where their name will be written in history.”

The Old Parks family, made up of management, players, and parents, came out in numbers to support the ceremony. “The event was a great success. We received positive feedback from the parents and players. Overall, it seemed everyone enjoyed themselves, and had a fun evening.”

Kitch added that it was important for the teams, and captains, to come together and enjoy the moment. “We wanted to recognise the captains and create a good culture and morale boost for all the teams.”

All the selected leaders were called up by their coaches, accompanied by cheers from the attendees. Some were chosen by their teammates, while others were selected by the coaches, based on their behaviour and discipline, on and off the pitch.
