The award celebrates the company’s more than 20 years of work in owl conservation and poison-free rodent control. Instead of harmful chemicals, EcoSolutions promotes the use of barn owl and spotted eagle-owl boxes as a natural way to keep rodent numbers down.

Over the past two decades, the organisation has installed and maintained hundreds of these nesting boxes across the country. In Gauteng alone, more than 160 are currently occupied, helping owls thrive while also controlling pests.

EcoSolutions also involves the public in its work. Live cameras on YouTube show owls in their nests, giving schools and communities a chance to learn more about these fascinating birds. In addition, the team runs research programmes to track breeding success, as well as offering workshops to raise awareness about the important role owls play in local ecosystems.

The impact can be seen nationwide, with owl boxes now found on farms, in corporate spaces, at municipal facilities, and within nature reserves. By reducing the need for toxic rodenticides, EcoSolutions is creating safer spaces for both people and wildlife.
