Another big hole left by Johannesburg Water after repairs
Johannesburg Water has left another big trench after repairing a pipe burst on Bram Fischer Drive.
Johannesburg Water (JW) has repaired the major burst on Braam Fischer Drive, which left residents and businesses nearby without water for over five days, leaving a huge hole in their wake.
Ward 102 councillor Lucinda Harman explained that it was a massive burst, with millions of litres of water being lost down Bram Fisher. She said that her biggest concern was that it took JW up to five days to attend to it, and switch off the water. “Residents were just driving over water. It was terrible. Then, JW dared to put out a message saying residents must use water sparingly, but millions of litres were going missing in this hole.

“When the water was turned off, it took the entity another two days to get material to fix the burst. They did not worry about the businesses around here that were affected. This entire area either had no water or low water pressure. Which is a huge problem.”

The entity dug up a deep trench to get to the pipe, affecting a lane with piles of rubble left on the pavement. “It looks like a construction site. They haven’t done the backfill, so now we’re stuck with another one of these holes in Ward 102. It’s bad. The road is still not drivable.”
Questions were sent to JW about when the backfill will be done. Their response will be published once made available.
