Shots fired in Northgate Cash Converters robbery

Northgate Shopping Centre was cordoned off after suspects robbed Cash Converters, with gunshots reported and police are now investigating the getaway vehicle linked to the crime.

Shoppers were left alarmed on Thursday afternoon (November 27) after an armed robbery took place at the Cash Converters store inside Northgate Shopping Centre.

The incident happened at about 13:00 on November 27. Beagle Watch officer Matthew Lundie, who was on the scene, confirmed that the suspects targeted the store before fleeing.

“The only information I have is that they robbed Cash Converters and shots were fired. SAPS is on scene. There is a registration number for the vehicle used in the robbery,” said Lundie.

Police officers cordoned off the area soon after their arrival and began gathering evidence. At this stage, SAPS has not released details on possible injuries or the number of suspects involved.

Shoppers and staff were advised to avoid the restricted area while the investigation continued.
