Shots fired during alleged cash-in-transit heist in Randburg

An alleged cash-in-transit heist unfolded at a Randburg shopping centre, with eyewitnesses reporting gunfire, a pursuit, and a disabled security vehicle. Police remain on scene.

An active incident has been reported at a shopping centre on the corner of Bram Fischer Drive and Dover Street in Randburg.

Law enforcement officers and a Fidelity security team are currently on the scene.

According to an eyewitness, the suspects allegedly rammed a cash-in-transit vehicle. The cash-in-transit crew reportedly tried to pursue the suspects, during which several shots were fired. The eyewitness further claims that the front tyres of the cash-in-transit vehicle were shot out, allowing the suspects to escape.

No injuries have been reported.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes as the scene has not yet been cleared. Traffic disruptions are expected while authorities manage the situation.
