Deputy minister of higher education and training motivates Ferndale High matriculants
Government officials joined Deputy Minister Mimmy Gondwe at Ferndale High School to guide matric learners on education pathways, career planning, and preparing for life after school.
Ferndale High School Grade 12 learners were given an important message about preparing for their future when Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Mimmy Gondwe visited the school recently with a delegation of government officials.
Gondwe introduced the department’s health desk to learners, explaining how it can support them. She said the help desk was set up in August 2024 when she took office, and has already helped tens of thousands of people. “We’ve handled 55 000 patients, and the desk has a 91 % resolution rate.”

Teacher Musawenkosi Madikizela told learners that education has lasting value. “Education is the key to success.”

Precious Modikwane, an occupational health and safety inspector from the department of employment and labour, urged early preparation. “Don’t wait for the last few weeks. Prepare. One day, I want to see you as a CEO.”
