Spark Randburg matric breakfast sets tone

Matric learners at Spark Randburg High School gathered for their annual breakfast, where expectations were set, achievements celebrated, and support from stakeholders clearly affirmed.

Matric learners at Spark Randburg High School gathered for their annual matric breakfast, a tradition that sets the tone for their final year.

The event, introduced by the Spark CEO, is designed as a wisdom-sharing session where expectations are clearly outlined. Associate principal Xolani Mehlomane said the breakfast gives learners a chance to reflect on their goals while understanding the standards expected of them.

“It’s a moment where we set the tone for the year and where learners see who is vouching for them,” he said.

The morning was also a time to celebrate academic excellence. Several learners were recognised for their achievements from the previous year.

Nomfundo Dlamini was honoured as a provincial winner in the Life Sciences Olympiad. Jayden Masvikeni received an award as first runner-up, while Shekinah Musher was named second runner-up.

The breakfast was attended by stakeholders from across the organisation, including external partners. A senior education specialist from the Department of Basic Education, Manti Mokone, delivered a presentation to the matric class, encouraging them to remain focused and committed throughout the year.

Mehlomane said the presence of department officials and other stakeholders shows learners that they have wide support.

The matric breakfast has become an important date on the school calendar, offering encouragement, recognition and clear direction as the Class of 2026 prepares for its final examinations and life beyond school.
