The Rocking Future Career Expo visited King’s School Robin Hills on Thursday morning, March 19, to educate learners about the opportunities that await them after they leave school.

The expo helps learners to choose the best career paths, develop their skills, and find employment in a country with a critically high youth unemployment rate.

For years, 3RC, the company behind the career expo, has helped South African high school learners discover exciting opportunities after school. The 3RC team and a top-class group of tertiary educational organisations help learners to understand their options and decide which careers suit their personality, skills, and ambitions.

Liane Nieuwenhuys of 3RC explained that they visit many high schools across South Africa. They bring several private higher education institutions to give students options for where they can study.

“We show them that there are more places to study, there are options for gap years, and there is a whole bunch of different career options that they didn’t know about. We try to make it as fun as possible by playing music and playing games.”\

She added that the expo at King’s School was a success, and that learners grabbed the opportunity to interact with institutions with both hands. “I feel like it went really well. The learners enjoyed the show and found it informative.”

Learner Evelyn Chanda said that she wasn’t expecting the expo to be fun and lively.

“Honestly, when I first came here, I was thinking it was going to be boring, but when I saw all the different stands, I was like, ‘Wow, okay, I think I’m actually going to enjoy this. I watched the presentations; I saw things that I would be interested in for my future.”
