Randburg runners overcome Two Oceans Marathon with outstanding performances
Rand Athletics Club members Moses Motshabi and Pule Sebolai shared their experiences at the Two Oceans Marathon, clocking great times in the gruelling 56km race.
After participating in one of South Africa’s most challenging races, Rand Athletic Club (RAC) members returned from the Two Oceans Marathon with hearts full of pride and faces beaming with happiness.
Among them was 71-year-old veteran runner Moses Motshabi, who has participated in the Two Oceans Marathon for 20 years. Motshabi said that he will be coming back again for three more Two Oceans Marathons to continue his running streak. He mentioned that he is very disciplined in how he chooses his races, and that is how he achieved second position in his age group, completing the 56 km ultra marathon in 05:49:56. “For me to still be running until this age comes with self-respect and discipline. I select the races I run very carefully. There are races I do to reach a certain time, and then there are those I do to actually reach the finish line.”

He highlighted that without training and respecting what you love, not much will be achieved. “I enjoy running. I love it and I believe that, when running, I inspire others to do the same.”

Meanwhile, fellow RAC runner Pule Sebolai gave an outstanding performance, completing the 56km event in 04:23:15, and the 21km race in 01:26:26. “It was a fantastic feeling, crossing the finish line with the times I have achieved.”
Even though he was scared that he might not do well, Sebolai kept going. “I was worried about the second half of the race, as everyone was talking about it, but I did not see any difficulties.”

He mentioned that he is proud to represent RAC. “It means a lot to represent RAC, as it is one of the oldest clubs, well represented in the past with a good history.”
Having started to prepare for the marathon in September 2025, Sebolai said the event formed part of his preparation for his first Comrades Marathon, which will take place on June 14.
Together, the two runners represented their running club with discipline, endurance, and a love for what they do.
