Ignite a leader in you pageant crowns 13-year-old Cosmo City learner

13-year-old Cosmo City Ext 6 pupil Taimar Khoza has been crowned Mrs Ignite at the Ignite a leader in you pageant, walking away with plans to give back to her community.

When Taimar Khoza’s name was announced as the winner of the Ignite a leader in you pageant, the Cosmo City Ext 6 teenager could hardly believe it.

“I was in disbelief, but I was very excited to be announced as Mrs Ignite,” she said with a smile that said everything about the moment.

At just 13 years old, Taimar is already thinking far beyond herself. The Cosmo City Junior Primary School pupil first heard about the competition through a schoolteacher and decided to take the leap, despite her nerves. “Yes, I was nervous, but I managed to get myself together.” The biggest challenge on the day was a simple, but daunting one: Facing the audience. She did it anyway and walked away a champion.

For Taimar, winning is not just about a title. She defines leadership in a way that many adults struggle to articulate. “Leadership to me means that I should encourage, respect, and help those in need, and be an inspiration to others.”

It is a philosophy shaped in part by her greatest inspiration, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. “He led by example and fought for our rights.”

Her family has stood firmly behind her modelling journey from the beginning, and their support clearly shows in the confidence she carries. To other young girls in Cosmo City who may doubt themselves, her message is direct. “Be confident, believe in yourself, and know who you are.”

What makes Taimar truly remarkable is the size of her vision at such a young age. She hopes to one day start a modelling pageant for girls and provide sanitary essentials to female learners who struggle to afford them. She also wants to establish an organisation that runs a soup kitchen and distributes food parcels to less privileged individuals in her community.

If that were not enough, she is also eyeing a career in medicine, alongside her modelling ambitions. “I see myself as an international model working with different brands and companies and having pursued my dream of being a doctor.”
