Ferndale bowlers perform well

FERNDALE – Ferndale Bowls CLub steals second and third spot.

The Ferndale Bowling club hosted and took part in a Mixed Fours Bowls Tournament that took place consecutively over two weeks with bowlers progressing from the semi-finals to the finals.

Women’s captain at the club Maureen Adams explained that it took place on 9, 15 and 16 May.

“Teams from Ridge Park, Old Parks, Randburg, Bryanston Sport Club and Ferndale competed in this tournament and we took the second and third place.”

She added that the club from Randburg took first place.

“Joe Soloman and Jimmy Watt, two of the oldest players at the club, won the Johannesburg Bowls Association Senior Pairs competition,” added Adams.

She explained that Joe is now in his late 80s and it’s a great achievement for him to win against younger competitors.

“The Ferndale Bowls Club will host an Open Day on 10 July and we are inviting everyone that wants to try their hand at playing a game of bowls,” concluded Adams.
