Are you up for the challenge?
RANDBURG – André Moll is challenging other residents to volunteer their time and join the Break the Shame Walk.
People have been touched by the Break the Shame Walk campaign and they are getting involved.
André and Gareth Moll have offered to carry 50kg of food during the walk on 19 September.
The Moll brothers have been dropped into winter-clad mountains, eating only what they could find; they have hiked across vast, untamed land, surviving off the sparse vegetation – and they do this for fun.
And that is the reason why, when André contacted Elani Richardson of Break the Shame and offered to carry 50kgs of food items at the Break the Shame Walk for Recovery on September 19 in Randburg in return for sponsorships – she jumped at the chance.
André was at Break the Shame’s recent function at the Barnyard Theatre and said having lost two friends to drugs, he decided to do something to help raise some desperately-needed funds.
“Just walking for the 4km isn’t enough of a challenge,” he maintained.
“In order to commit fully to this worthy cause, I wanted to aim for a contribution of at least R10 000. Members of the public are therefore asked to donate R200 per kilometre.”
The food items will be donated to I Care at the end of the walk.
André has laid down the gauntlet to other walkers. “If anyone out there would like to outdo me, you are most welcome!” To support his generous efforts, you can EFT your sponsorships to the following bank account: Break the Shame, FNB Randpark Ridge, Account: 62531265925, Branch: 255-955. Use MOLL plus your name as the reference.
