Gold ribbon for cancer

FERNDALE – Young children are taught the gift of giving.

Unika Pre-primary School children in Ferndale supported a charity on Casual Day.

About 200 children gave R5 to Rainbow and Smiles, a community based charitable foundation, which provides emotional, social and financial support to children diagnosed with cancer or a life-threatening illness. This support includes help for their families and caregivers.

Each child who donated R5 received a gold ribbon, which is the symbol for childhood cancer awareness.

For the charity, the event was both a fundraiser and an opportunity to enhance awareness of childhood cancer and education on early warning signs.

It was also part of the charity’s approach to providing hope, fun and laughter to help families through the childhood cancer journey.
