Cricket fun in the holiday sun
RANDPARK – Rand Park High School's new cricket coach hosted a cricket clinic for newbies.
Rand Park High School has a new cricket coach who ushered in a new age of coaching at the school by holding a cricket clinic on 8 December.
The clinic was attended by boys of all ages, skill and fitness levels to hone their cricketing skills.

“A cricket clinic is a session to have fun and learn the basics of cricket,” said coach Renato Almeida, who played provincially for more than 15 years from 1997.
He represented the Highveld Strikers and Easterns and spent several years in England as a club professional cricketer.
He also represented South Africa in International Indoor Cricket.
“Many of the kids here today will be joining us at Rand Park High next year and they are very excited. Some of the kids that we have here today are very talented and some need a bit more work, but that is what we are here for, I want the kids to learn from each other.”

Almeida also took some time to speak about his coaching plan for the high school’s next cricket season.
“What I love about this school is that it feels like a brotherhood… I used to play cricket with the school’s head of sport Steve Adler.
“I am definitely going to bring a different dynamic to the school’s coaching system, being very technical and tactical. I am going to bring in a new age of cricket, that is why I am starting with the entry level, so I can see the boys’ cricketing career grow all the way to matric.”
Almeida’s cricket clinic is open to all boys from all schools at junior level.
