Linden Bowling Club hosts tournaments galore in December and January
From Christmas fun events to The Grinch Day and Club tournaments and district leagues, the greens at Linden Bowling Club have been very busy of late.
Linden Bowling Club (LBC) has just come off the back of a busy few months with lots of events and bowls action.
After a fun Halloween Trips in October, the bowls club finished the year cheering Esmé Haley at the World Champion of Champions tournament in New Zealand, where she came seventh overall.
The club also hosted the finals of their first Tower Novices competition which Lynne van Zyl won for the women and the men’s champion was Grant Milicevi.

Christmas carols followed at the club along with the Grinch Day – a mixed trips competition with one novice per team.
The winning team consisted of Van Zyl, Otto Holicki and Lizelle Schutte.
Further fun competitions were held a week on either side of Christmas, which had great prizes.
“This year has started with a bang with the LBC New Year’s Day fun day on January 1,” said club secretary, Van Zyl.

The first weekend of the year saw the Club Mixed Pairs tournament played and the weekend afterwards there was the Club Men’s Singles.
The winners of the Mixed Pairs Plate were Lizelle Schutte and Johann Rautenbach who played in the final against Erica Cocks and Errol Deals.
The club is now enjoying the start of the Johannesburg Bowls Association (JBA) Premier and Trips leagues.

Furthermore, the following club members were chosen to represent JBA in the Gauteng Challenge and the Bowls SA Inter-Districts
Heather Pembroke (women’s vets), Holicki (men’s vets), Ronel Fouche and Nicole Erwee (women’s open B) and Mmapula Mmako represented Sedibeng (women’s B team).
