Tyshler Fencing School swordmasters perform well at Épée World Cup

Three fencers from the school in Praegville take on the world's best in Turkey and hold their own.

Sergey Losevsky, Pavel Tychler and Harry Saner of Tyshler Fencing School can be proud of a good showing at the Épée World Cup in Istanbul, Turkey, recently.

Tychler finished 54th out of 350 fencers. In the table of 64, he lost to Olympic Champion Limardo Ruben Ganson of Venezuela.

In the team event, 45 sides competed. South Africa, ranked 25th, beat New Zealand in the first round and in the second round lost to eighth-ranked China, with a score of 39–30. SA finished 26th overall. “This is a good result for us,” said the owner of the fencing school Dr Gennady Tyshler.

He said later in June the team would fly to Cairo for the African Championships.
