Randburg FC drops points at home against Tuks

Tuks edges Randburg FC 1–0 in gritty Gauteng Development League clash.

Randburg Football Club narrowly lost 1–0 at home to University of Pretoria Football Club (Tuks) U19s in a tightly contested Gauteng Development League match.

Despite the disappointing result, Randburg started the match brightly, dominating possession and opening the visitors’ defence with ease. From the outset, they created several clear-cut chances, but poor finishing ultimately let them down.

Patrick Chisungu was particularly lively on the left flank, consistently troubling the Tuks backline with his pace and skill. He came close to opening the scoring with a glorious opportunity, while dangerous balls were repeatedly delivered into the box. However, striker and captain Sipho Muntanga was unable to convert these chances, leaving Randburg frustrated.

As the half progressed, Tuks found their rhythm. They threatened with a well-executed transition, but Randburg goalkeeper Luke Holden produced a big save to keep the score level. Moments before halftime, however, the visitors struck, capitalising on another swift transition to take a 1–0 lead.

In the second half, Tuks displayed disciplined defending, staying compact and organised. Randburg pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but despite their efforts, they were unable to break through the resolute defence.

Tuks coach Lehlohonolo Ramuki applauded his boys for holding on to their lead and for a wonderful defensive display. “We have been conceding a lot of goals and not very clinical upfront. Today we kept a clean sheet, and won the match. I am very happy for the boys.”
