Hoërskool Randburg gets the better of Hoërskool Linden in derby showdown

Hoërskool Randburg first team rugby side powers to a commanding 32-15 victory to end three-day derby in style.

Hoërskool Randburg sealed a dominant 32–15 victory over Hoërskool Linden in the final match of the three-day derby weekend.

Cheers erupted from every corner of the school grounds as learners, parents, and teachers celebrated a performance filled with passion, power, and pride.

The match did not begin in Randburg’s favour. Linden came out strong and immediately put pressure on the hosts. After earning an early penalty, Linden’s fly-half stepped up and calmly slotted an impressive kick from near the halfway line to give his side a 3–0 lead. The Linden supporters roared with confidence as their team controlled the opening minutes.

Randburg refused to panic. Their forwards began to dominate, and the defence tightened with massive tackles that echoed around the stadium. Two well-taken penalties soon gave the hosts a narrow 6–3 advantage and shifted momentum back to the home side.

After missing a penalty, Linden struck again before halftime with the first try of the match. Quick hands through the backline opened a gap, and a conversion sailed through the posts to make it 6–10. At that stage, the visitors looked dangerous and determined.

The hosts showed resilience; they fought back and responded with a well-taken try, taking a 13–10 lead after the conversion. The home side attack proved to be too much for the Linden boys. They went over the line again just before halftime with a well-worked try, taking their score to 18–10 after missing the conversion.

The second half belonged entirely to the home side. They played with intensity, fearless defence, powerful carries, and relentless attacking rugby. Every moment lifted the crowd, and every break forward was met with cheers from the stands.

As the game progressed, Randburg grew stronger and stronger, scoring brilliant tries and adding crucial points to pull away from their rivals. By the final whistle, they led 32–15, a statement victory in the derby and ensured the first rugby team unforgettably ended the weekend.
