Leandie on her way to greatness

ROBIN HILLS – South African actress Leandie du Rant is passionate about her craft.

Actress and Robin Hills resident Leandie du Rant has geared herself toward producing memorable performances in the South African film and television industry.

Du Rant pointed out that her acting career began very unexpectedly.

“I studied BCom Industrial Psychology at the University of Johannesburg and lived at residences at the university. It was there that I had to do a beauty pageant as part of the first year’s initiation and won ‘Miss Personality’. Through that, I got involved in the Brümilda van Rensburg’s drama course, while studying and this helped me get into the film and television industry,” she explained.

Du Rant revealed that balancing a life between professional and personal can be challenging at times.

“Sometimes emotional story lines can affect my personal mood and tire me out as a result. I always try and keep the personal and professional separate and to remind myself that it is just my character’s emotions,” she said.

She explained that she has had many proud moments in her career, “I try to live my life in such a way that every day when I wake up, I realise how blessed I am to do what I love.”

Du Rant will be playing Angelique in the upcoming Afrikaans motion picture Hollywood in my Huis and explained that her character in the film is a mean teenage girl. “She is a typical bad girl who is actually just jealous and insecure,” she said.

Hollywood in my Huis is set to open at cinemas nationwide on 26 June.
