Training centre launches at Kensington Gardens to strengthen elderly care skills

Flower Foundation Retirement Homes has launched a new training centre at Kensington Gardens, aiming to equip students with essential caregiving skills and strengthen elderly care services through a year-long development programme.

Flower Foundation Retirement Homes continues to extend its outreach and community development work with the launch of a new Training Centre at Kensington Gardens in Kensington.

The purpose of the centre is to provide students with the knowledge, practical experience, and core principles that they will need to provide great caregiving in the elderly care sector.

It falls within Flower Foundation’s larger outreach programme, which focuses on skills development, education, and empowerment. The training programme’s duration is a year-long and aims to equip students for employment opportunities in elderly care. This will help alleviate the high demand of skilled caregivers in the community.

The centre is managed by Sr Nomvula Mbokazi, alongside Flower Foundation group compliance manager René Baker, whose leadership played a key role in establishing the initiative.

The launch, held on May 6, marked a significant milestone for the organisation. In attendance were members of Flower Foundation’s management board, senior management, relevant stakeholders involved in the project, and the very first group of students who are enrolled in the programme.

The proceedings were led by CEO Stanley Bawden and chairperson of the management board Nombuso Ramakgopa. They welcomed the students and extended words of encouragement as they began their training journey.

The launch highlighted both the new learning facility and the orgnanisation’s commitment to community empowerment and ensuring the future of elderly care through education and training.

The organisation wished the students success as they begin their learning journey, hoping that the opportunity will support both their professional and personal development.
