Animals, action and a champion house at Footprint

Footprint Special Needs School celebrated its annual sports day with parents, learners and staff competing under an animal theme that brought plenty of colour and cheer.

Footprint Special Needs School brought out the ‘animals’ on June 6 when it hosted its annual sports day, with parents, learners and staff joining forces for a day of fun, laughter and friendly competition.

This year’s event carried an animal theme, with each of the school’s three houses adopting a creature as their symbol. Oak House became the Frogs, flying the green flag. Tipuana House roared as the Giraffes in yellow. And Flame House prowled as the Foxes in red.

Principal Sharon Rowe, who also served as Flame House captain on the day, said the event was a great success. “We’ve had an amazing day with our parents and students participating in all our fun races and activities,” she said.

The spirit of the day was perhaps best captured by Tipuana House, whose yellow-clad supporters took home the Spirit Award for being the loudest and most passionate team on the field.

When it came to the races and activities, however, it was Oak House that had the last laugh. The Frogs dominated the competition from start to finish, sweeping the day’s events to be crowned overall champions.
