Elephants rescue leopard trapped in a tree by lions
Two lionesses, who wanted to steal a leopard's meal, had to flee for their lives after an elephant herd came to the spotted cat's rescue.
Elephants have long been considered empathetic animals, and this was evident when a herd recently came to the rescue of a leopard in the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve in Mpumalanga.
The leopard that was trapped in a tree after two lionesses stole his meal, had to hang on for dear life when one of the lionesses decided to attack him. A herd of trumpeting elephants, that were most likely attracted to the scene by the growls of the fighting cats, caused the lions to flee and the leopard to live to see another day.
