Fitness and colour fun unite Dan Tloome community
Young and old came together as the Seeds of Life Foundation hosted a colourful Mandela Day Colour Run featuring fun activities, fitness sessions and health screenings for the community.
The Seeds of Life Foundation brought colour, energy and a strong sense of community to Dan Tloome on July 18 as residents gathered for a vibrant Mandela Day Colour Run.
The event attracted people of all ages, transforming the area into a lively celebration of health, unity and giving back. Participants took part in the colour run, with bursts of brightly coloured powder adding to the festive atmosphere.
Beyond the run, the foundation ensured there were activities for everyone. Younger attendees enjoyed jumping castles and other entertainment, while older residents took part in energising aerobics sessions that kept the atmosphere lively throughout the day.

Health and wellness were also central to the event, with various health screenings available to community members. The free services allowed residents to check their health in a relaxed and accessible setting.
Event organiser Nthabiseng Ramathe described the day as ‘amazing and ‘blessed’.

“It was a fabulous day seeing everyone, especially the grannies, in all their different colours, participating and being active in all the different activities,” she said.
One of the participants, Agnes Sithole, said the event was a fitting tribute to Nelson Mandela’s legacy.
“This day is very important in our country’s calendar. Everyone needs to do good in honour of the late Tata Madiba.”

Another participant, Agnes Mahajane, echoed the sentiment and highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
“It is also very important for us as the elderly to watch what we eat and also stay fit and active, as that will slow down the rate of ageing in our bodies.”
The Mandela Day initiative reflected the foundation’s commitment to uplifting the community, promoting healthy lifestyles and creating opportunities for people to connect, celebrate and support one another.
By combining fitness, fun and meaningful outreach, the Seeds of Life Foundation once again embodied the spirit of Mandela Day by bringing the community together and making a positive impact.
