Municipality holds prayer session for Mandela

Mandela really is in good hands spiritually.

The office of the speaker within the Randfontein Local Municipality held a moving prayer session for former President Nelson Mandela at Ramosa Hall in Mohlakeng on 11 July.

According to Randfontein Local Municipality speaker Mzi Khumalo, this was to wish the ailing statesman a speedy recovery and reflect back on his work in attaining the freedom that South Africans enjoy to this day

“We decided to call for a series of prayer meetings throughout Randfontein to wish the father of the nation well.

“We hope that our combined prayers as a society will be enough to help the man get better.

“We believe that God will answer our prayers,” says Khumalo

He adds that he appreciates the different communities and church congregations that flocked to their prayer sessions and says that it shows that Mandela really is in good hands spiritually.

Acting speaker of the Randfontein Youth Council Bonolo Atong delivered a moving speech and said that as the youth, they will always have Mandela in their hearts.

“Mandela has done a lot for the nation but in order for our generation to carry on with his legacy, we have to follow in his footsteps and live by his values.

“I want our elders to rest assured that we are not a wasted generation despite the many challenges that we face today.

“There is still hope in us and we will follow in Mandela’s footsteps and be the ones to bring about the winds of change.

“We are not a doomed nation.

“We want our parents to trust and believe that we too can make our country a better place to live in and we too will be the future great presidents of this country.”
