Emerging farmers to receive tractors

We want to empower them with the much needed tools.

The West Rand District Municipality together with the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will be handing over eight tractors and other farm implements to the emerging farmers in the West Rand on 23 August.

This will be done at the Randfontein Railway Station from 10am.

According to District spokesperson Dennis Mangope, the tractors will be distributed to farmers of the four municipalities in the West Rand being Randfontein, Mogale City, Westonaria and Merafong City.

“We hope that such efforts by the district together with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will give hope to emerging farmers.

“We want to empower them with the much-needed tools so that they may go forward and make a success of their farming ventures.

“We hope that by so doing, they will realize their potential and perhaps give back to the community,” says Mangope.

The MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development in Gauteng Nandi Mayathula is expected to be in town for the event.
