Residents are urged to take note of Westonaria SAPS sector police contact details.
In effort to improve police officers’ reaction time in emergencies, the Westonaria SAPS urges residents to make use of their sector contact details.
This follows complaints from residents in the area about police officers arriving late at emergencies.
According to Westonaria SAPS spokesperson Constable Thembi Masango, it is vital that residents be informed of the sector numbers in other to prevent such occurrences.
“We do experience the problem of arriving late but in most instances it is due to us being notified late.
“People usually dial 10111 and are not aware that calls have to be transferred to us and that on its own causes a delay.”
She adds that people need to play their part and become active citizens in their own right.
“As much as we have the duty to serve and protect, people have a duty to assist us in curbing crime where ever they can.
“Residents must make use of the contact details for their specific sector.”
Residents who reside in Sector 1 – Westonaria CBD, Lebanon and Venterspost – can contact 071 675 7174 or 071 675 7175.
Those who reside in Sector 2 – Glenharvie, Hillshaven, Jachfontein and Thusanang also known as Speruperu – can call 071 675 7172 or 071 675 7173.
“Making use of these sector numbers is another way of speeding up reaction time,” says Masango.
