Venterspost libraby currently underway

The library will cost 5.6 million.

The Westonaria Local Municipality together with the Department of Arts and Culture in Gauteng held a sod turning ceremony in Venterspost on 6 September.

This was to celebrate the library which is set to be built in Venterspost in the near future.

The library will be located two kilometers away from Venterspost Primary School and will cost R5,6 million.

According to the MMC for Community Services at the Westonaria Local Municipality Annah Gela, once the library is built, the community should take advantage of the facility for their own benefit.

“It is through education and utilizing such facilities that one can become informed and educated.

‘”This is one of the many keys we need in making a better life for ourselves and add on to our country’s development,” says Gela.

She adds that the library will come fully equipped with books for both the schooling society as well as the community at large.

Westonaria Local Municipality Executive Mayor Nonkoliso Tundzi shares the same sentiments with Gela and says that residents also need to directly benefit from this project.

“We want to see this facility contribute towards improving the matric pass rate and improve the access to information as a whole.

“In the same breath, we urge contractors to include our local contractors and absorb local labourers in this project so that they too can benefit economically,” says Tundzi.

The library in question is expected to be complete in the next six months.
