A 58-year-old man was hijacked while enjoying his lunch in his car on the side of the road in Brandvlei on 28 August at approximately 11am

The man was travelling on the Ventersdorp Road when he decided to park his car, a Toyota Hilux LDV near the Denny Mushroom factory.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Appel Ernst, the man was approached by two suspects who ordered him to open his door.

“The man did not take kindly to the orders and immediately refused

“The suspects forcefully entered the car and pushed him to the passenger seat,” says Ernst.

An intense altercation broke out and the suspects gained control of the vehicle.

The owner of the vehicle was able to jump out of the moving car, and had to watch the suspects drive off.

“We are currently investigating the case and any information that can assist in solving this case is welcome by the police.

“Anyone who wishes to come forward can contact investigating officer Seargent Ntuli on 011 237 9000,” says Ernst.
