Three men ransacked a local bakery in Westonaria, demanded a diamond, and fled with the bakery’s earnings estimated at R16 600.
This was on 16 September at approximately 6.40 am.
According to Westonaria SAPS spokesperson Constable Thembi Masango, the owner had just opened the bakery’s doors and went back to his car to fetch his spectacles.
“Upon his return, he was followed into the shop by three men.
“They produced firearms and demanded that they be led to the safe,” says Masango.
Fearing for his life, the man succumbed to the threats and opened the safe.
The suspects bagged approximately R16 600.
Masango adds that the suspects ensued to the till and bagged an undisclosed amount of cash.
They also demanded a diamond from the victim but he did not have it.
“Shortly after this, the men fled from the scene on foot.
“We have launched a manhunt for these suspects.
