The Randfontein Local Municipality Acting Municipal manager Mpho Mogale has once again managed to anger residents.
The community of Finsbury was left fuming after Mogale failed to show up at a scheduled community meeting on 22 October, saying that they felt undermined by Mogale’s attitude toward them.
Mogale was expected to address residents of the area with regards to incorrect electricity billing, assessment rates and the incomplete sports complex in the area.
The meeting was scheduled to take place at the Finsbury sports complex 5pm.
However, according to Cope West Rand Region Organiser Nicodemus Phake, he was informed by local ward councilor Xolisa Ntsepo that Mogale had other matters to attend to and would not be joining the meeting that he himself had arranged.
“This goes to show that the leadership of this town has utter disregard for residents of the area and their concerns.
“A word of advice is that council management must not undermine residents of their town because they know what’s going on and will act against it,” says Phake.
Meanwhile, Mogale has fired back at Phake stating that this is not true.
“I could not make it to the meeting due to the fact that I had to attend a meeting where management together with government officials had to discuss the amulgamation of Randfontein Local Municipality and Westonaria Local Municipality into a unicity.
“I sent someone to apologize on my behalf and once again I am sorry,” says Mogale.
He adds that another meeting has been scheduled for 29 October at the sports complex and he urges residents of the area to attend so that he can address their concerns.
