A 6-year-old girl from Mohlakeng is currently recovering at the Leratong Hospial after she was abducted from her home, brutally assaulted and raped, and left for dead in a nearby veld.
The girl allegedly was abducted from her home by a friend of her father’s of Friday 8 November.
The man took her to the veld, where he viciously assaulted her, and raped her numerous times before leaving her for dead.
The girl’s grandmother discovered the seriously injured unconcious girl in the veld in the early hours of the next morning.
She was rushed to hospital, where she was found to have serious vaginal and other injuries.
The girl was unable to speak at first, but managed to utter the suspect’s name during a visit by her mother.
The suspect was located and arrested on 10 November and and he appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 11 November, where he admitted to the abduction, rape and assault.
The suspect declared that he had left the girl in the veld thinking that she was dead.
The case was postponed and the suspect is expected to appear again on 19 November.
