Aranda’s birthday celebration a success

Aranda textiles was established in 1951 and their first ever blanket in 1953.

Aranda textiles, a company well known for producing quality blankets in Randfontein, hosted a massive event at the Greenhills stadium on 21 November.

This was to celebrate its 60th birthday and what it has achieved throughout the years in the West Rand – especially where upliftment is concerned.

According to Aranda CEO Nicola Magni, the company was established in 1951 and had its first building in Randfontein and produced their first ever blanket in 1953.

“Over the years we have employed thousands of South Africans and we have been a major contributor in the West Rand communities and to the country as a whole.

“Apart from stating the obvious with regards to keeping people warm, we are also proud to have been in a position to contribute towards nation building and we plan to be around for another 60 years doing even bigger and better work,” says Magni.

He adds that as a way of continuously giving back to the community, Aranda offers 30 registered learnership qualifications annually to unemployed pupils from all walks of life.

A minimum of 70 percent of these pupils are offered temporal or full time employment and another 13 are offered apprenticeship each year in various textile trades.

These are but a few of the contributions the company has embarked on over the years aimed at changing and improving lives among the youth.

“Through this event, we just decided to let our hair down with our workers and reflect back on the work that we have done.

“It goes without saying that more needs to be done and we are more than prepared.

“As the saying goes, the sky is the limit,” says Magni.
