Bakkie hijacked at a traffic light

A VW polo suddenly emerged and blocked him off prior to taking his car.

A Toyota Hilux bakkie was hijacked while waiting at a traffic light near the Uncle Harry’s Roadhouse on 20 February.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Enrst, the incident occured at approximately 11:30 am.

“The motorist was waiting at the traffic light when a blue VW Polo stopped in front of him, blocking his way.

“Two of the three occupants of the Polo emerged from the car and approached the driver of the Hilux while pointing a firearm at him.

“They ordered him out of the driver’s seat and then tied up him,” says Ernst.

She adds that the suspects fled with the victim and later dropped him off at a veld in Soweto where he was able to get help from a passer-by.

Meanwhile the stolen vehicle, with registration number FWZ 894 NW has still not been recovered.
