The police have launched a manhunt for three suspects who broke the wall of a local spaza shop in Mohlakeng and ransacked the premises taking stock as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.
The incident occurred on 10 march at approximately 3.20am and according to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, a 22-year-old shop owner was asleep inside the shop at the time of the incident.
“Basically, the shop owner heard loud noises from his shop where he was sleeping when he decided to investigate
“Unfortunately the suspects had already entered the shop and one of them produced a firearm.
“He was held at gunpoint and then ordered to hand over his money.
“The suspects continued to ransack the premises,” says Ernst.
She adds that the suspects fled from the scene just before security guards arrived at the scene.
Fortunately no shots were fired and no injuries were sustained by the victim during the ordeal
