A Randfontein resident has come forward to thank EPR security and other members of the community for helping her chase and apprehend a suspect after she was attacked and robbed by him.
The incident occurred on 8 April and according to information received, Roxy Greef was walking at the bridge near Fruit and Veg City when she was approached and attacked by the suspect who was armed with a knife and took her valuable items.
Shortly after this, the suspect fled on foot.
According to Greeff, a passer-by spotted the incident and immediately reacted to the robbery.
“I was fortunate that a man called Zick was driving past at the time in a white vehicle.
“He helped me chase my attacker and we managed to catch up to him on Freda Avenue where we apprehended him,” says Greeff
She adds that other residents who saw them giving chase contacted EPR security to assist in the chase.
Subsequently, the suspect was arrested and handed over to the police.
“Although crime is escalating in Randfontein, there are still good citizens out there who don’t turn a blind eye to such things.
“I just want to thank everyone for their help and I consider myself to be blessed.
“This could have turned out worse as the man had a knife in his possession,” says Greeff.
