Body of man discovered on smallholding

Police to investigate unnatural death.

Police are to look into the death of an 18-year-old man after his body was discovered on a smallholding in Wheatlands over the weekend.

According to Randfontein Police spokesperson Appel Ernst, “Police were called out to a smallholding early on Sunday morning 29 June where the body of a man, 18, was found. He was declared dead on scene by paramedics.”

While it is believed that the deceased was socialising shortly before his death, police say they responded to a complaint of an unnatural death.

“Information gathered at the scene indicates that the man was on the premises socialising with his friends prior to his death,” Ernst says.

“This was the last time he was seen alive and what happened thereafter remains unknown,” Ernst continues.

“No injuries were visible on the victim, however a postmortem will be conducted soon,” she adds.

Anyone who might have any information with regard to the incident is urged to contact investigating officer into the case, Warrant Officer Disco Thieane on 011 278 8100.
