Pupils robbed at gunpoint identify suspects

Suspects aged 22 and 33 arrested for deed.

The two pupils who were robbed of their cellphones at gunpoint in Mohlakeng last week were able to identify the two suspected robbers to the police. The two suspects, aged 22 and 33, subsequently were arrested.

“On Wednesday morning (13 August) on their way to school the pupils were approached by two men. One of them produced a firearm while the other pulled out a knife.

“The suspects then forced the pupils to the ground and stole their cellphones. Fortunately, the pupils were able to identify the suspects, which led to their arrest shortly afterwars,” explains Randfontein Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst.

Ernst confirmed that the men are facing charges of armed robbery.
